What an Artist should know before assembling an Art Exhibition

Assembling a group of paintings for an art exhibition may turn out far more difficult in practice than in theory.

Ignoring whether you are the only artist exposing or you are part of a larger group using the same indoors, your signature as a painter depends on the selection you reveal the guests. For some of them this may be their first contact with your work and, if not pleasantly impressed, their last, too.

When having your own art exhibition...

When having your own art exhibition, you may find it more comfortable to select paintings, because you are the one revealing an artistic vision, your artistic vision.

However, when exhibiting with other more or less similar artists, you must adjust your theme and artistic view to their themes, so that it results in a unitary and harmonious ensemble. Black and white works, for example, will go only with other black and whites, paintings musty match size and material, subjects must be identical or tightly connected and the design of the interior must be thoroughly considered when determining the impact on visitors. These are some of the essential references an art exhibit consists of, but details are as numerous as various from one location to another. Don’t forget to ask for more than one opinion on your selection before exposing it, because you may judge your work with subjectivity.
